Biography and Education
Biography
Dr. Brady Reynolds served as the Endowed Chair for Rural Health Policy and worked closely with the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky. Also in this role, he served as the Director of the Tobacco Subsection of the Gateway Wellness Coalition, based out of Morehead, KY. Additionally, Dr. Reynolds has had recent NIH funding as PI to explore new methods of improving smoking cessation programs for rural populations. For teaching, Dr. Reynolds has served as course director for BSC 732 (Interdisciplinary Protocol Development), and he co-teaches two sections of this class each year. He is also a behavioral preceptor for two sections of MD 811 (Introduction to Clinical Medicine) during each year. For service, Dr. Reynolds serves on two department committees and one COM committee. Dr. Reynolds has recently moved to a 10-month appointment in the Department of Behavioral Science.
Education
2018 Accomplishments
During 2018 Dr. Reynolds continued to serve as Co-I on an NIH grant to comparatively explore youth tobacco use in various forms in rural Appalachia and in urban locations. Dr. Reynolds also received a new NIH grant (R21 DA046551-01) to evaluate the effects of mindfulness training on depression, stress, and impulsive behavior in rural adult smokers. He also served on two NIH special emphasis panels and had two manuscripts accepted for publication. Administratively, Dr. Reynolds was Co-Director of the Institute for Rural Health Policy, and from that position he played a continued role as Chair of the tobacco subcommittee of the Gateway Wellness Coalition located in Morehead, Kentucky. In this capacity, Dr. Reynolds was involved in developing and implementing an adolescent smoking cessation program at Rowan County High School. Dr. Reynolds also taught sections of BSC 732 and MD 811.
