Janice M. Kregor, M.D. joined the faculty of Behavioral Science in the UK College of Medicine in the fall of 2006, teaching first year students in the course now called Introduction to Clinical Medicine. Prior to this time, she practiced General Pediatrics for 25 years. Each year, for the past several years, she has been a preceptor for 2 ICM small groups. For the academic year of 2015-2016, she received excellent evaluations from students in her small groups. One student wrote “She brings 110% to every class meeting and truly cares about each of her students as individuals. She’s an endless fount of clinical knowledge and tips about interacting with patients. She pushed each of us to think more creatively and compassionately about how to interact with patients and our future role in the healthcare system.” Another student wrote, “…your mentorship drastically helped prepare us to love and serve people with excellence in the many years of practice ahead of us, and we will all be better physicians for it. Thank you for everything!” Dr. Kregor is also primarily responsible for administering the interviewing training and practice sessions that the students have with Standardized Patients. For the academic year of 2016-2017, there are a total of 10 twelve hour lab periods scheduled. These include both the Mid-Term and the End of Course Competency Interviews. She works with colleagues to write scripts and train SP’s. She has primary responsibility as the faculty member to precept the Learning Labs. Dr. Kregor also reviewed and provided feedback for 18 mock interviews for 4th year Medical Students as they prepared to do their residency interviews before the Residency Match. These students were self-selected, and they arranged the mock interviews because they found the interview labs to be so helpful. Over the past couple of years, Dr. Kregor has coached several foreign Medical School graduates as they work on their interviewing skills in preparation for their USMLE Step 2 Boards exam. Dr. Kregor participated in the Medical School graduation and White Coat Ceremony, and she attended Match Day Celebration.
